restart Windows, not your computer

If you ever need to restart your Windows 98 machine but don't need to go through the hassle of rebooting the entire computer, this is the tip for you.

To restart the Windows operating system, follow these steps:

1. In the Start Menu, click Shutdown.

2. Check Restart.

3. Hold down the Shift key, and press OK.

4. Continue holding Shift until you see the words, "Windows is now restarting."

This tip does not work with Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Windows XP
